SUMMARY:Western Anti-Zionism and Arab Zionism
DESCRIPTION:After decades in which Anti-Zionism was a mainstay of the Arab world and at times the defining theme of Arab unity\, some of the Arab world are breaking away and embracing Israel as a legitimate\, and even indigenous element in the region. This is happening at a time when Anti-Zionism\, which seeps into antisemitism\, is gripping some parts of the West. This development raises questions about the connection between Western Anti-Zionism and regional Middle Eastern realities. \n\n\n\nDr. Einat Wilf is the co-author of “The War of Return: How Western Indulgence of the Palestinian Dream Has Obstructed the Path to Peace” and a leading intellectual and original thinker on matters of foreign policy\, economics\, education\, Israel and Zionism. She was a member of the Israeli Parliament from 2010-2013\, where she served as Chair of the Education Committee and Member of the influential Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. She is considered one of Israel’s most articulate representatives on the international stage. In the past she served as a Senior Fellow at the Jewish People Policy Institute\, Adjunct Fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and as Foreign Policy Advisor to Vice Prime Minister Shimon Peres. Dr. Wilf has a BA from Harvard\, an MBA from INSEAD in France and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Cambridge. Born and raised in Israel\, Dr. Wilf served as an Intelligence Officer in the Israel Defense Forces. She is the author of six books that explore key issues in Israeli society.

SUMMARY:The Woke Industry\, Two Views
DESCRIPTION:A new ideology has emerged from the progressive Left in America. Often described as anti-racism or “wokeness\,” this ideology proposes that structural racism is at the heart of America’s inequities\, the only truly fundamental American characteristic and its most important one. This view is proliferating across American institutions\, from academia to journalism to corporations and even banks. New woke industries are emerging in force\, like the “diversity\, equity\, and inclusion” programs that are rewriting the rules for American media\, academia and politics. People are being ganged up on and fired for falling afoul of the new orthodoxy. And the scope of what counts of racism is ever-expanding\, now including everything from opposing defunding the police to Zionism. \n\n\n\nWhere did this ideology come from? And where is it headed? What should we make of it as Jews? What does it mean for the U.S.-Israel relationship? Join us for a debate about the subject of Wokeness with two journalists. \n\n\n\nSource: https://spme.org/activities/the-woke-industry-two-views/26892/
